About the Caregiver Role
Here is what a typical day looks like and what you will need to join our team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers, and walking assistance while promoting dignity and independence.
- Build positive relationships by providing companionship, conversation, and meaningful social interaction.
- Help maintain a safe, organized home by completing light household tasks such as laundry, washing dishes, changing linens, taking out trash, and general tidying.
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals and assist with eating when outlined in the client's Service Plan.
- Provide transportation or accompany clients to appointments, shopping, religious services, and other approved community outings.
- Provide medication reminders according to the client's care plan. Caregivers do not administer medications or place medications into pill organizers.
- Observe clients during each visit and promptly communicate any changes in their physical health, emotional well being, cognitive status, or home safety to the office.
- Follow each client's individualized Service Plan and perform only those services authorized by Avanza Senior Care.
- Complete accurate visit documentation, daily care notes, and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) as required.
- Respect each client's privacy, preferences, culture, and right to make decisions regarding their care.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, family members, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality, consistent care.
- Follow all Avanza Senior Care policies, HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, safety procedures, and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) requirements.
Qualifications
We are looking for caregivers who are dependable, compassionate, and committed to making a difference.
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Previous experience providing care to seniors or adults with disabilities preferred
- CNA or Home Health Aide training preferred but not required
- Current CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it after hire
- Ability to pass all background checks required under the Illinois Healthcare Worker Background Check Act
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and current auto insurance when driving is part of assigned duties
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- Professional appearance, punctuality, and a positive attitude
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect for every client
Employment Documents

- Documentation verifying authorization to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license (if transportation is required)
- Current automobile insurance
- CPR certification, or willingness to obtain one after hire
- CNA certificate or other caregiving credentials (if applicable)
- TB screening or other health documentation as required by company policy or client requirements
Physical Requirements
This role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, and assisting clients with mobility throughout the workday. Caregivers must be able to safely assist clients with transfers and lift or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
